What's New in CrystalMaker 4.0?
Interface Improvements
The new interface
is compatible with the MacOS8 "Platinum" appearance.
Whilst the overall number of commands and features has been increased,
we have also simplified the overall interface, reducing the number
of menus and removing redundant commands. We have significantly
improved many of the dialog boxes, providing more options and
feedback. Other changes include:-
- All open/save
file dialogs support Navigation Services (MacOS8.5, or
later). Navigation Services provides easy-to-use extended file
dialogs with a Finder-like interface, favourites menu, shortcuts
and other convenient features.
- MacOS8 greyscale
appearance for all dialogs. Active text items now appear highlighted.
- Extended
Edit > Atom Specs dialog features a scrolling list. All sites in the crystal
or molecule can now be edited (previously the number of editable
colours/radii was fixed at 40).
- New Rendering
Options dialog,
combines previously-separate dialogs into a single tabbed interface.
This dialog also now permits control over ambient and point source
illumination levels, and over stereo settings.
- Rendering
Options and Model Options dialogs both have an "Apply" button;
this lets you try out different settings without having to close
and re-open the dialog. Furthermore, both dialogs now remember
their screen positions.
- Floating
windows have contextual menus (hold down the control key on your
keyboard, and click in the window).
- Rotator
Window now uses a popup menu, instead of the side palette.
- Improved QuickTime VR options
dialog. Graphical preview
makes it much easier to set angular and frame ranges.
